Comes with a fitted F. Bronn wooden box with interior marking specifying "Successeur De J. Darier" which is consistent with mvt signature, mother of pearl inlay to upper lid. Gross weight of assembled watch 107.3 dwt (166.9 g). A superb piece by this esteemed maker that is known for the great diversity of his work. Hilaure Basserau was born in 1743 and became an apprentice to Jean-Antoine Lépine and in later years Basserau was to eventually be named watchmaker to the Emperor Napoleon. The dust-cap inscription of this piece is intriquing as it isn't readily apparent what invention Basserau is referring to.
