DESCRIPTION:
Mvt only - H.W. Smith, Boston, Mass marked on dial and mvt, 15J, 46mm, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#13. Comes with key. Hiram W. Smith was a watchmaker and watch material supplier that was active for a number of years in the Boston area. This elegant bridge model movement ebauche is believed to have been supplied to Smith by Piguet Freres of Switzerland with some of its finishing elements likely then executed by Smith within his Boston workshop. There is some excellent historical information on Smith as well as photos of two very similar movements (s#10 and s#11) found within the February 2005 NAWCC Bulletin article "George P. Mvt: GRO, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with few fine and micro-fine scratches, missing case screw; near flawless dial has only few micro-fine surface scratches; excellent hands with some small bits of finish loss.

Mvt only - Waltham, "Railroad Time" marked on mvt and dial, Model 1883, 17J, 18S, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, gold jewel settings, gilt mvt screws, spiral pattern nickel damascene, s#7822323. A rare marking that is seen far less frequently than some of the more commonly encountered railroad marked Model 1883 movements. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, broken mainspring, balance is gummy, hairspring looks out of shape, overhaul needed...

Mvt: NR, broken mainspring, balance is gummy, hairspring looks out of shape, overhaul needed, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some scattered fine scratches and spotting, oxide on regulator, mismatched non-gilt screw on balance jewel setting; dial with small fracture to lower left corner of center section, two outer chapter hls at 8, hl in seconds-register, short faint hls at 5 and 6, scattered tiny edge flakes; fine hands with areas of oxide.
