DESCRIPTION: EPW - Patek Philippe, Genève, five-minute repeater with split-seconds chronograph and 60-minute register, retailed by Jaques & Marcus of New York, 53mm, heavy 18K rose gold original HC with beautiful dark blue enamel monogram inlays of initials to front and 1888 date to rear, gold cuvette bearing Patek and retailer markings as well as engraving "John from Georgie Feb. 3' 88.," white enamel DS dial with retailer marking, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, likely 30(+)J, mvt with Patek and retailer marking, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#80283 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 100.6 dwt (156.5 g). A very impressive and unusual watch with split-seconds chronograph in combination with a five-minute repeating function rather than the more typically seen minute repeating function, and the presence of a 60-minute register rather than the more typically seen 30-minute register. Watch is accompanied by a hangtag from its recent service in Patek Philippe's facility, a folder with some information from Patek Philippe regarding use of the chronograph feature, as well as a photocopy of its extract from Patek Philippe archives, which interestingly indicates a sales date some months later than the case inscription that is possibly reflective of the case engraving commemorating a special date to the recipient rather than the actual date of the watch's presentation. This watch also comes bearing a two-year warranty from 11/11/2019 that transfers with the watch by serial number.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running although upon its return from servicing by Patek Philippe the consignor was advised by Patek Philippe to make sure watch is fully wound before engaging chronograph functions and also that due to the age of the piece that it should not be carried and run daily, good repeater function and tone, good chronograph and register function, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some micro-fine scratches and mild fine scratches to main plate and balance cock, few small spots to plate surface, some micro-fine scratching at perimeter portion of small central sweep bridge, superb chronograph components and steelwork; flawless dial; mint hands; case shows very little wear, subtle shallow dent at right side of front lid, few slight slivers of visibility to exterior planchet seams of front and rear, blue enamel is fully present and has some typical surface scratches; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.

Gross weight of assembled watch 77.6 dwt (120.6 g).

DESCRIPTION: EPW - Louis Mestal a Paris, verge fusee hour repeater and hour striking coach clockwatch, 89mm, silver OF original pair cases, outer with tortoiseshell piqué and pierced for sound transmission, inner with very attractive engraving detail to bezel and rear perimeter, pendant depresses for hour strike on demand, bell not removed from inner to inspect for possibility of markings, "Markarik Markame Perigal London" marked white enamel dial with Turkish market numerals, winding aperture at 3, strike train barrel winding aperture at 7, slide under dial at 7 for silence of clockwatch function, KWKS, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, s#917. Gross weight of assembled watch 362.2 dwt (563.3 g). A massive piece with colossal and very attractive in-hand presence, French made watches of this style and size for the Turkish market are rare. The dial of this example was likely given an English signature to appeal to the Turkish clientele that would be familiar with this style watch having English dial signature, and the name "Markarik Markame Perigal" was presumably a nom de guerre or pseudonym that was selected for its similarity to the existing firm of Markwick, Markham & Perigal.
