First patented and introduced to the world in 1932, the Marine was truly ahead of its time. This was the first watch specifically designed and tested to withstand serious subaquatic depths. In 1936 Omega sent a Marine down to 73 meters in Lake Geneve; following this in 1937, the Swiss Laboratory for Horology officially certified the Marine to depths of 135 meters. In a world before the Aqua-Lung, when diving was still being done with large helmets, this was incredible technology. Truly a wonderful piece of diving and Omega history which predates the famed Blancpain Fifty Fathoms by nearly 20 years.
