Watch Tools

Stock#: JH56833

DESCRIPTION: SHIPPING CHARGE WILL BE ADDED TO DOMESTIC INVOICES FOR THIS LOT; COST WILL BE $70-180 DEPENDING ON DESTINATION. Antique lathe, as pictured, reputed to have been of the workshop of noted independent American watchmaker Charles Fasoldt of Albany, New York, lot weighs approximately 20 lbs, from the Wing family collection. Though we do not have any documentation linking the provenance of this piece to Charles Fasoldt, we can relate our knowledge of it as follows: This lot was previously handled by our galleries in the fall of 1995, and its source at that time was a woman from Albany, New York whose late husband's family had worked with Charles Fasoldt. This consignor declared her belief that to the best of her knowledge the lathe was indeed from the shop of Fasoldt. It's purchaser at our 1995 sale, Don Wing, was a noted collector of Charles Fasoldt watches and associated items and after his winning bid for the lathe remarked that he was confident this piece was indeed of Fasoldt's workshop due to some of its design elements.
CONDITION: Cosmetically excellent, functionality untested.
ESTIMATE: $800 - $1600
