Davis, Over Under Swivel Breech Flintlock Kentucky Long Rifle, circa 1840, .39 caliber rifled barrel and .40 caliber smooth bore barrel, brass sliding trigger guard which operates the swivel barrel lock, steel lock plate with pinned opposite side and swan neck cock, right side engraved "A. Davis," straight steel tang, American tiger maple stock with cheek rest and carved details as well as an inset star pattern and brass hinged patch box, brass button inset on stock bottom reads 603, brass curved moon butt plate, 31.25 inch octagonal barrels with fixed front blade sights, top of each barrel marked "A. Davis". A truly impressive and incredibly rare piece of American firearms history; swivel breech firearms don't come up for auction often. PAT'D DEC 21. 1886," American walnut stock with steel crescent moon butt plate, 23.25 inch round barrel, early German silver "knife blade" front sight and adjustable rear sight, barrel top is marked "WHITNEY-ARMS-CO.-WHITNEYVILLE-CONN," s#45. The last firearm to be produced by the late Eli Whitney's eponymous firearms company before it was sold off to Winchester by Eli Whitney Jr. in 1888 after making just shy of 2000 examples of this lever action, this being #45 is an early example and listed on the Eli Whitney museum and workshop serial number list. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y." with serial number stamped on bottom barrel flat just before ramrod tip, s#157. A fabulous piece of not only Remington history but of revolver history in general, designed and put into production a bit to late to catch on with the adoption of metallic cartridges and conversions of these earlier models. They just weren't good enough to compete with the more useful Winchester lever repeaters being released, and as such Remington killed them off. Very seldomly do Remington revolving rifles come up for auction so don't miss out on this fantastic example. Wurfflein, Phila," percussion bolster inlaid with silver bands, case hardened tang, American walnut stock with large cheek rest and crescent moon butt German silver butt plate with acorn finials, 29-3/4 inch octagonal barrel drilled for false muzzle, top is marked "W. Wurfflein, Phila" with the side barrel flat bearing the mark "Steel," globe style front sight with flat-top rear and an adjustable rear diopter sight. A great example of an American made Schuetzen rifle, these were originally used in the aforementioned Scheutzen matches which typically were 200 yards and used specialized targets. This rifle was made to fit the original shooter's perfect dimensions and as such, the original owner was likely the only person who could fire this accurately. Antique long guns - Winchester Repeating Arms Co of New Haven, Connecticut, Model 1887 lever action shotgun, circa 1889, 10 gauge, steel lever trigger guard with comfortable finger rests, u-flat steel receiver with vertical loading and an engraved Winchester logo on left side of receiver, serial number located under front portion of receiver where it meets the barrel, underside of tang engraved "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN, U.S.A, PAT. FEB. 18 & JULY 20. 1886," American walnut stock with checkered steel butt plate, 29 inch round triple barrel aged a pleasing gray brown color, below barrel sits a tubular internal magazine, s#25627. Designed by the famed firearm designer John Browning for Winchester, this was Winchester's first foray into the shotgun marketplace. When Winchester asked Browning to design it, he recommended a pump action design, however they insisted he design a lever action as it fit in with Winchester's brand. John Browning went on to develop the famed 1894 for Winchester as well as the M1911 for Colt, M2 .50 caliber machine gun, M1918 BAR and numerous other handguns, rifles, machine guns and cartridges, many of which are still produced and used today. Sauer & Sohn of Suhl, Prussia, circa 1880, 12 gauge x .32-40 caliber, steel trigger guard with lightly engraved details, serial number engraved behind trigger guard, action/lock plates and hammer are a dull gray with hand engraved embellishments, each side signed "Charles Daly," tang with engraved embellishments and flush set flip top peep sight, European walnut stock with worn checkering, retains what appears to be the original monogrammed hard rubber/gutta percha butt plate, 29-1/4 inch round triple fine Damascus barrel aged a pleasing plum brown color, top barrel flat marked "FINE DAMASCUS" with the underside littered with Prussian proof marks, s#29385. The US importer Charles Daly was a partnership between himself, August Schoverling, and Joseph Gales, briefly they traded under the Schoverling, Daly, and Gales moniker but quickly decided to use the aforementioned Charles Daly. They specialized in importing rifles and shotguns primarily from Suhl in then Prussia but also imported from England and Belgium. The various brands they imported under the Charles Daly name included Heym, Shiller, H. A. Lindner, Sauer, J&W Tolley, Newman and Lefever arms. Drillings measures 45.5 inches in length and weighs approximately 10 pounds; includes soft protective case. NOTE: No in-house shipping available. CONDITION: Action functions for the right shotgun barrel and the switch over to operate the bottom rifle barrel however the left hammer will not lock in place; fine overall cosmetic condition, bright fine bore and rifled barrel with hardly any oxidation, metal surfaces have aged a patchy dull gray to silver, small dings and fine scratches are scattered about the barrel and sides, excellent rear flip sight, stock with worn checkering smooth and without definition in some areas as well as numerous dings and scrapes; excellent trigger guard.
