DESCRIPTION: LPW - Illinois, unusual high grade pendant watch with jeweled barrel arbor, at least 17J, 6S, HC model mvt in sidewinder orientation in nickel OF display case, white enamel DS dial with fancy tree branch style Roman numerals, SW-LS, jeweled barrel arbor, two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, no visible s#. An interesting and very unusual piece for the Illinois collector with its jeweled barrel arbor, lack of a visible serial number, and its unusual dial. Barrel arbor jeweling was not used among any regular production Illinois grades in this size, and this movement's notably large raised gold jewel setting on its barrel arbor is very eye-catching and attractive. We believe this watch was likely a specially made one-off piece and we suspect that it may have been made as a factory employee's (or employee's wife's) personal watch.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, reduced two-tone color, three long fine scratches to barrel bridge, train bridge with a discolored spot in space between escape wheel jewel setting and edge, some lesser spots elsewhere to train bridge, regulator with mild oxide; dial with outer chapter hls at 6 and 8, few tiny pinpoint nicks to rim of seconds-register hole, some very small edge flakes under bezel; excellent hour and seconds-hand, fair minute hand with substantial oxide to its spade and tip; case shows little wear, no dents or dings; tight now, crown shows little wear; glass crystals with few mild scratches.
