Lot#: 154

DESCRIPTION: Hamilton, pocket watch carrying case, leather exterior marked in gold foil to its upper surface with "Hamilton, The Watch of Railroad Accuracy" between images of an airplane and a locomotive, interior with same gold markings to silk lid liner and with recesses to accommodate eight 16 size men's PWs, case measures approximately 10.5 inches x 6.5 inches x 2.75 inches. A scarce and very attractive item for the Hamilton pocket watch collector, this example was originally from the estate of John F. Gelson, past president of Hamilton Watch Company. These style watch carry cases make for terrific eye-catching display pieces in one's watch room or at a watch show. These carrying cases were identified in Hamilton factory literature as "Leather Salesman Sample Case for 16 Watches." The present example, like most we encounter, is missing its removable upper tray that was designed to hold eight additional watches.
CONDITION: Exterior shows light overall wear, gold foil markings and imagery clear and strong, original handle on side still present without damage, latches good; interior is missing its original removable upper tray, missing one vertical slat from left side, otherwise excellent with very little wear to gold foil lid liner markings, lower portion with recess for eight watches with little wear.
ESTIMATE: $500 - $900
